If you’re a regular reader, you know that I took last year off from couponing.
I was never a shelf-clearer, but I did come home with things I knew I’d never need. Like athlete’s foot powder. And contact solution.
When you first start to figure out how to make the most of the promotions stores run, it’s difficult to not go overboard. And for a natural slob gatherer it can get really bad. Taking some time off was probably good for me.
But as I move into my new phase of life that’s coming (whether I’m ready or not) in a few weeks, I’m ready to get back into shopping the sales and grabbing things when they’re at a great price.
I just hope to do it with a little more balance.
Here’s the thing. I’m almost completely out of cleaning products.
This may come as a shock to some . . . but I don’t leisurely stroll down the cleaning aisle. In fact, it never enters my mind to go through it. It’s like that area of the store is a blur that never enters my line of vision.
But there must be people out there who care about cleaning stuff, because those products go on sale and get advertised.
Weirdos.
Anyway, when I’m actively shopping the sales and comparing coupons, I notice when cleaning products are a good price.
And I go looking for them.
And buy them.
When my cabinets are well-stocked with cleaning stuff . . . my most fabulous excuse of all is eliminated.
The one where I CAN’T clean because I forgot to buy more cleaning stuff and I don’t have the time (or make-up-applying-energy) to run to the store and get some right now.
So, when My Blog Spark contacted me about doing a giftcard giveaway courtesy of Kroger and General Mills, I agreed. Because it’s time for me to start smart-shopping/excuse-eliminating again anyway. And because I wanted the gift-card they offered to me.
Kroger is one of my favorite stores for great sales. Right now, they’re having a Cart-Buster Savings Event with lots of great things on sale.
Like toilet paper.
Which is another thing I forget to buy when I’m not watching the sales.
Which isn’t good.
I’m not a coupon-blog, but I will let you know that there are quite a few coupons right now that can be printed from coupons.com that match up with this current sale. But if you don’t want to hassle AT ALL with remembering to bring coupons to the store, you can load digital coupons onto your Kroger card with sites like Cellfire.com and the coupon amounts will come off when you buy the product using your card.
Leave a comment and be entered to win a 25$ Kroger gift-card!
FYI, the giftcard is good at the whole Kroger Family of Stores, which includes Kroger, Ralphs, King Soopers, City Market, Dillons, Smith´s, Fry´s, QFC, Baker´s, Owen´s, Jay C Food Stores, Hilander, Gerbes, Food4Less, Fred Meyer, Pay Less Supermarkets and Scott´s food & Pharmacy.
Like I said, all you have to do is leave a comment to be entered. If you’d like some extra entries, you can leave a separate comment for any of the following:

I’ve been taking time off couponing as well and desperately need to get back into it.

I very much enjoy reading you blog. I admit I tend to be drawn to chaos and clutter and when it is time to deal with the mess it gets overwhelming and I get frustrated and want to throw in the towel (you know…right on top of that pile over there…yep, yep, that covered that mess). I find reading an entry or two helps me put the mess in perspective and tackle it. So thank you for sharing all of your tips, suggestions, and life. 🙂

Consider me entered – thanks!
By the way, how do you announce the winners of your giveaways? Is it always posted in a new blog post? I hope not just an e-mail to the winner, because if I ever did win I’d lose the e-mail in my cluttered in box faster than you can say “Now where did I put that field trip permission slip…?” ^_~
I would love a $25 Kroger gift card! =)
I “LIKE” you on FB!
I’m a Google Friend Connect reader too! =)
I LOVE shopping at Fry’s and I LOVE clearing shelves. I’ve only been working on it for 4 weeks and already my coupon book (which is huge) is busting at the seams. Our income has drastically dropped so I’m doing it out of survival. It’s been a HUGE blessing to my family to coupon. Thanks for sharing! 😀

I’m kinda scared to start couponing. My sister-in-law loves it, but I know myself and am afraid I’d go overboard. I need to look into those virtual coupons, thanks for the site.
And I subscribe in a reader. 🙂

I would love to win, as much as I love reading your blog. I never got into the whole blogging thing until I stumbled upon yours. I’m still trying to catch up from the beginning. I love it!
I am just starting to coupon(out of necessity)!:)I am in the coupon saving part right now.I do not have a Krogers here but we enjoy visiting one when we visit our parents. It would be such a blessing to win a card as we could get our food (or diapers)there.:)Thanks so much for the giveaway.

a gift card would be a great “extra” Wedding gift for my youngest daughter, who gets married September 17th. I have been teaching her how to stretch the dollars, and pass along the “excess” like un-needed contact solution, foot powder, and baby formula as donations to the nearest non-profit – Women’s Shelter, Crisis Center, Homeless shelter, etc. (we donated the formula a couple of months back , some we bought for free and some for 38 cents with super coupons!)
Great post!

Please don’t include this as an entry, as I don’t have a Kroger nearby, I just wanted to comment. I’ve been taking time off of couponing for that very same reason… We still have soooo much stuff, that I think it’ll take another year or two to get rid of, and I’ve already taken over a year hiatus, in addition to giving away several of these products as well.
I’d like to get back into couponing, just for the basic stuff that we need, but I’m afraid that I’ll go overboard again. I still need to get my house into a routine before we go that route again. But I definitely know how you feel 🙂
I would LOVE to win the gift card!! 🙂
I would love to win this! Dillons is a regular stop for me and I really need to make a stock up trip!
I hope to graduate to ‘I’ve-got-it-together-enough-to-coupon’, but until then, entering for a gift card is just as good!
I took a break from coupons over the summer, too. I hope to get started again when school starts. I just hope I have learned from my mistakes.
I laughed about the toilet paper. That’s like me – then we scramble for kleenex boxes until I run to the store. Sad, I know. Don’t count me out for the Kroger card just because I’m in Canada. I live near the border and LOVE to cross and go shopping 🙂 Thanks!
I would love to win this! There is a Kroger that I shop at frequently just down the road. I love to browse their specials on meat!
I subscribe through google reader.
I am a fellow slob, who is trying to do better, and a pretty decent couponer. I know exactly what you mean by skipping that cleaning isle. And again like you I am running a little low. I love reading your posts. I think we are on the same brain wave sometimes!!! LOL
I could make great use of that.
What a great giveaway!

I like to take advantage of coupon deals, but am no where near an extreme couponer! Plus, in our area there are no double coupons. 🙁
