Some Weeks You Make Progress . . . Some Weeks Not

Last week I made quite a bit of progress.

I was on a roll.  Before I knew it, I’d be at a point with nothing left to declutter and nothing left to write.

And then this week happened.

Hubby was sick on Monday.

Tuesday was a legit Snow Day.

Today, Wednesday, is a why-oh-why-did-they-call-off-school-when-the-roads-are-fine-and-now-we-have-to-go-to-school-on-Memorial-Day kind of day.

And as far as making progress goes . . . I’m not.  I have managed to do laundry on Monday and clean bathrooms on Tuesday and run the dishwasher every night, but the house is feeling the effects of all this loosi-goosiness.

And, at one moment, this thought flitted through my brain: “Oh well.  This week is a bust.”

It was only a flit, before I caught myself.  I actually love these days.  My 4yo is giddy having the whole family home for days on end.  My concept of the days-of-the-week has flown completely out the window.  The boys’ faces when they realized that they didn’t have to go to school AGAIN TODAY . . . was priceless.

Maybe it’s not perfect.  Maybe I let the boys play video games most of yesterday.  Maybe I ran out of hot chocolate mix and microwave popcorn.  Maybe the house has suffered from a clutter explosion with the lack of routine.

But it’s okay.  I’ll get back to routined weeks.  I’ll buy more hot-chocolate packets.  I’ll change out of my pajamas before suppertime.

But for now, I’m enjoying the moment.  The movies, the old-fashioned stove popped popcorn, the extra fudgy hot chocolate made from pudding mix.

The time.

I make progress in the weeks when I can, so I can enjoy the weeks when I can’t.

I'm having one of those not-so-productive weeks, too. If I can figure out my stupid blog issue and move on, I just might stop my lazy week before completely spiraling out of control!
