If you’ve been reading my blog at all, you know that my office/game room is my big project that seems to never end. It has been the subject of many posts, even this Tackle it Tuesday post from a few weeks ago.
I’ve been enjoying it so much for the last few weeks that it has been clutter free. I’ve even been able to ignore the very scary walls.
I began the project of taking down the wallpaper a long time ago. A loooonnnnng time ago. As in months. I’m thinking it has been close to a year.
This room is an awesome extra room. It’s big and can serve so many purposes. But is has wallpaper. Wallpaper? In a big old room like this?
When we moved into this house three years ago, I knew that I would eventually do something about this room. But then the room became a dumping ground for all of my clutter issues and the wallpaper was the least of my worries. Now that the room is usable, I’m ready to make it look nice. Kind of an Ugly Duckling tale.
Thankfully, I have a deadline for this. My mom is coming down to help me paint it in about two weeks. This means that I have to have it ready to paint. I want it to be finished before she leaves. I have issues with finishing tasks, but she’s the queen of gettin‘ stuff done!
I still have one section left to go, but I got two sections done today. When I say sections, I mean the parts that are hard to get to. Up high or behind something. I’ve been peeling wallpaper for an hour or two here and there for so long, but these were the sections that required furniture-moving, so I’ve kept putting them off. Then once I’m done, I have to go back and get the little flecks of the wallpaper backing off. Again, I’m glad to have a deadline because that’s the kind of annoying task that I would put off forever.
So here’s one of the sections I did today. It isn’t much, but it makes such a difference to have a plain ugly wall over a ripped up section of wallpaper.

Reminds me of the paint I bought two years ago. Except for mixing the colors at the store, they’ve never been opened. Might be a great project for this summer. 🙂

yup. i have a can of year-old paint, and one of spackle that were supposed to do my living room last summer… then before the holidays… then before the baby was born… then before my maternity leave was up (which is still a month away) thinkin it might not get done til we move out, which may happen in about two months. did i mention my husband has the same (if not worse) clutter issues that i do?

I had to laugh when I read this…because my paint is still unopened. Here’s hoping we both get that job done at some point in the next ten years. 😀
