That’s my bed . . . at this very moment.
It’s scary looking, but could be much worse. I’m actually rather proud that those clothes are folded. I’m not putting off folding until the afternoon like I often do. Two more loads now, and every last stitch of clothing in the house will be ready for family put-away time this afternoon.
Last week was pretty much a bust when it came to my weekly tasks. Being sick meant that things were getting a little crazy. Washing but not folding or putting away last Monday’s laundry – plus the necessity of pulling out some winter clothes due to our first truly cold weather . . . and the house was on the verge of out-of-control.
So, since today is November 1st, and it’s time to get serious about holiday prep, I’m playing catch-up this week. Get it back to “normal” and then get going on the extra holiday stuff next week.
Soooo, I did what I’ve learned to do in these situations. I walked around the house, daily checklist in hand, and did the tasks. I set a timer for the “5 Minute Pickup” to keep me on track. And while I really wanted to finish the kitchen scrub-down that we didn’t quite complete last Friday, I didn’t have time to get it all done. So, I set the timer for 15 minutes, and just worked for that long. A few more times of that, and I’ll be done.
If I can do my daily checklist every day this week, and do my weekly tasks on their assigned days, my house will be in good shape by Friday.
And if I can’t . . . at least it will be better because of what I’ve done today.

I love my timer. I found out that I can actually clean our entire bathroom(we only have one) in 15 minutes…sink, mirrors, bathtub, toilet and yes even the floor. So now I can't say I will clean it when I have the time.
I have 15 minutes in my day to clean the bath.
And the fridge, and the living room.
Love your blog, been reading your archives. I understand, though its only my husband and I so our excuses are just that, excuses.
blessings,
jilly
