It’s the fourth day of my series – 31 Days of Details.
I have a beautiful window.
It lets in light, and I can see who’s walking through the neighborhood while I do the dishes.
But it is unbelievably inconvenient to clean. It has a nice little display area that requires me to do a full-body-climb-feet-on-the-sink contortion to get to it.
Lovely.
I have a hard enough time with the convenient spots.
Anyway, the furthest-from-human-reach part of the window/ledge/whatever is evidently an Ancient Insect Burial Ground.
Recently, I realized that I could use my handy-dandy vacuum thing-a-ma-jig with its extendable attachment to suck those bugs right up.
I realized, but still didn’t do anything about it. (It’s so irritating that realizing and doing are not the same thing.)
Yesterday, I finally decided to take care of it. Other than the picture-taking, this task took about three minutes.
Another detail down.
You can see what the 31 Days of Details are all about here.
And . . . have you voted for A Slob Comes Clean today? I’m in second place! (Which makes me really happy!)

I just vacuumed up some dead bugs today! It made me feel so clean, lol! 🙂 I also use my vacuum attachment to suck up dust that accumulates along the window frame and in the window crevices that I can’t reach with a cloth. It makes it so the dirt doesn’t build up when it gets wet with Windex. I shoot to do it every couple of weeks. It only adds an extra couple of minutes to my vacuuming time and is so worth it since it saves me from having to do a deep clean on the windows when the grime has all ready built up.

“(It’s so irritating that realizing and doing are not the same thing.)” Made me laugh out loud because I have the same issue!!

I just noticed the dead bugs in my window sills today as well… I guess your post has inspired me to add that to my to-do list this week and I voted for you!

I, too, LOVE your quote “It’s so irritating realizing and doing are not the same thing!” LOL I definitely have this problem too!!! Now that is going to bug me all day!!! Definitely one to ponder when we know a task will take a matter of minutes but we don’t actually get around to do it!! Love the realism in your blog! Thanks so much for sharing!!! 🙂

Amen!!! I’m coming to this realization late in life. Seeing the words in black and white only reinforce the fact that THINKING about what needs to be done is most definitely not the same as DOING them. Thanks, Nony!

Realizing & doing are not the same thing-if only they were,my house would be spotless, lol
I have also decide that my next house MUST be self cleaning!
I did want to thank you for your posts about details,it inspired me to clean the hall coat closet. I managed to bag up a few coats that no one wears(not sure if any one ever wore them) Toss out several broken hangers, put bags of stuff awayand discovered that the vaccum now fits in the closet & you can close the door easily 😀

I realized today that I do the same thing, but I thought of it in terms of the mathematician in a joke, who says, “A solution exists,” and stops.

I bet your little girl would be thrilled to get up there with a wet rag & clean while you are doing dishes. Small humans are great for cleaning small, hard-to-get-to spaces!
