Today I’m talking about how big plans end up backfiring sometimes, and how to not let the feeling that you need to figure everything out ahead of time (in your home) keep you from actually making progress.

A few years ago, I decided that I don’t want to spend 4 hours (literally) cleaning out and scrubbing my entire fridge. So I do it now shelf by shelf. If there is spill, or one shelf or drawer that looks like it needs to be cleaned more than another, I focus on that one shelf and am done with it (unless I have time or motivation to do another). I am excited to use Dana’s approach to start with trash and easy first. Then where (what shelf /drawer) would I look first and put it there. Then, pulling the rest out to clean the shelf. I think that will mean less to have pulled out all over the floor and counters to make decisions about and clean.
