First day of my new non-negotiable

September 14, 2009 By Dana White 2 Comments

I added a 5-minute-general-pick-up to my list of non-negotiables this week. I did this today right before lunch. My house is quite clean right now, so I was tempted to fall back into my normal habit of thinking it was good enough. I want to catch the little things before they turn into big things. The little things I caught were: Put away the … [Read more...]

Panic

September 14, 2009 By Dana White 6 Comments

I got into bed last night and was startled to notice, AFTER getting in, that my bed was not made. I panicked. I had taken a Sunday nap, and thought maybe that was why, but could see that my husband's side was unmade as well. I hadn't made the bed at all yesterday, and I hadn't noticed. That's what brings the panic. I'm trying so hard to keep my … [Read more...]

Lest I be prideful . . .

September 13, 2009 By Dana White 21 Comments

If you've been reading the last few days, you have noticed that I have been quite proud of myself that I got "most" of my house clean for this weekend of birthday celebrations. I think that's one of my problems. When I clean, I expect a parade in my honor. I expect everyone to notice how great things look even though I don't have them over when … [Read more...]

The down side of cleanliness

September 12, 2009 By Dana White 8 Comments

Here's the part I dislike about having my house as clean as it is today:I turn into Crazy Mommy.DON'T BRING YOUR TOYS INTO THE LIVING ROOM!WHY WOULD YOU PLAY IN THE RAIN AND THEN WALK ACROSS THE LIVING ROOM!ETC.ETC.ETC!I would like to achieve a place of balance. If it wasn't so rare an occasion, maybe I wouldn't freak so much about keeping it this … [Read more...]

Goofy lightbulb moment

September 12, 2009 By Dana White 11 Comments

I love being a mom. I love being home because it is my passion to give my children the freedom to be imaginative, creative, and independent at their own personal pace. I love having a fridge with water in the door because it means my kids can get themselves a drink of water whenever they need one from a very young age. It seems like a small … [Read more...]

I won’t lick my floors . . . but I probably could!

September 10, 2009 By Dana White 14 Comments

I mopped the kitchen today. Like really mopped it. Moved out all chairs, swept every single nook and cranny, and mopped. I'm a little proud of it. I don't do this very often.I actually like mopping. I like nitty gritty cleaning. I know that that doesn't make any sense considering the fact that I am a . . . slob. But it's true. As I … [Read more...]

Crockpot Stew/Soup/Whatever

September 9, 2009 By Dana White 6 Comments

Here's my thrown-together stew. It turned out great. I also added Orrington Farms Beef Bullion which is fantastic and makes any beef stew/soup taste fantastic. And of course I banged off some frozen cooked ground beef to put in there while still frozen. I also used kitchen scissors to cut up the whole tomatoes. I like to use a can of whole tomatoes … [Read more...]

Out for the day

September 9, 2009 By Dana White 3 Comments

Fun and crazy day today, but my kitchen was clean when I came home, and thanks to my Menu Plan, it will stay clean since supper is in the crockpot! We left the house at 8:30 this morning and got home at 3:45. But before leaving I did my checklist. Go me! Made bed. Emptied dishwasher. Cleaned up kitchen. Swept kitchen. Checked … [Read more...]

Am I afraid to call myself lazy?

September 5, 2009 By Dana White 28 Comments

At this point I have no readers. The understood "you" in all of these posts doesn't actually exist. However, I find myself hesitant to say certain things. Sometimes it is because honesty hurts. I'm used to putting a positive spin on things that need to be said more bluntly here. Sometimes, though, it is because I am afraid of offending someone. … [Read more...]
