Those of us who struggle with clutter tend to be idealists. We want to do the very best thing. But obsessing over not making any mistakes, no matter how tiny, can end up defeating our efforts to get a space under control.

A tip to not ruining surfaces: use blue tape/painters tape.
Put a piece of painters tape on surface, put hot glue on tape and attach item to glue. The blue tape can just peel up when you want to move item. Can also put blue tape on item wanting to secure if concerned the heat of the glue will damage item. The heat will still go through tape but isn’t directly on item.
It also works for posters/papers on walls. We use this method for VBS at our church to hang posters. We put tape on poster and also on the wall to protect both surfaces.
I wanted to let you know that this one kind of freaked me out in the best way. I felt seen. Naked seen! I’ve been listening to your podcasts, reading your books, and beginning to declutter no mess style the past little bit and I can’t believe how much better I’m feeling about it all. Thank you so much.
That is so true!! When I told my friend about this podcast admitting that I, too, have A LOT OF things waiting to be put on the wall she said she would come over and help me hang up the pictures and the calendar (yes the new year is already over a month in…). And I am thrilled!! I know it will be so easy and satisfying once she is here tomorrow!
It’s like a variation of “Take it there now” -> “Do it now”
