This was a fun conversation! Sarah has made so much progress, but now she’s having to adjust everything after a big move and lots of challenges.

We discussed:

  • Rotating clothes by size and season.
  • Dealing with toys.
  • Figuring out how to arrange the kitchen when the old system won’t work.

The box of donations getting packed & moved across country is bad. My father was in the Navy & we lived in the Middle East when I was kid. There was a family that moved from Florida to Bahrain, that unpacked a bag of trash was still in the trash can. This bag of trash was packed by “professional” movers, shipped from Florida to Bahrain on a container ship in July, & 2 weeks late arriving (in the 80’s, 4-5 weeks was the average time), & one of the last boxes opened. The wife estimated it fermented for 2 1/2 months. All of the items in that box was permanently infused with the smell. Cookware, ceramic items, everything was a loss. My mom still talks about how long it took her to get the claim settled, because the US Navy was the customer for the moving company. It was about 6 months before the husband transferred to his next duty station.
