A Small Improvement for Those Reading Backwards

If you were in the middle of reading backwards when I switched from Blogger to WordPress last month, you were probably frustrated that the way you were reading changed.

I was frustrated too.

Frustrated doesn’t even describe it.  I’m still working to figure out how to make it the way it was, but I did happen upon the “Calendar” feature this morning, and I think it will make things easier for you.  Look on the right sidebar, under the facebook box, and you’ll see a calendar.  Next to it are the months.  Click on the month you’re in, and then find the day, and from there on it should be easier to see just one day’s posts at a time, without having to click over and over through a month and then back again.

I wish I could have figured this out for Slob with OCD while she was reading backwards.  She said she was reading like a novel and did NOT want to see that I’d finished the garage before she’d read about how I was sure I could never finish the garage.

That made me smile.  A lot.

I’m still planning to bug people at the Savvy Blogging Summit next week until someone helps me figure out how to get it back the way it was, but for now  . . . this helps.

It’s good to know I made you smile. I am sure it’s no-surprise that Slob with OCD would be the one to complain about that.

I was actual in total grief when I caught up a couple of weeks ago, and couldn’t sit down and read 4 or 5 or 20 posts until I felt motivated enough to get up off my butt and clean something.

    Hey, Nony!

You don’t know me–but I am a new fan. I have to say this DOES read like a novel! I’m a backwards reader– I started at the beginning a few days ago.

I have to say that at first I was annoyed that I could only read one post per screen. Then, one night, I somehow saw a weeks worth (or something) and I, too, “saw the end” without the anticipation and suspense–and I quickly figured out how to view just one post at a time.

I am not a slob. I am not creative, fun or spontaneous. I think I’m just normal. But lazy normal. I don’t clean my house. Well, not consistently and not as often as I should. I do see it–I just ignore it. (Bad.) I have the same interior dialogue you used to report having–why should I work when it is a holiday? How come no one does ….. but me? blah blah blah.

Through reading you, though, I do now believe my husband when he says he “didn’t see” whatever he just tripped over…so you have helped me. I’m also getting up and doing something in the house every few posts, too. The kids aren’t allowed on the computer at all until I’ve caught up. (I don’t know what I’ll do then, though.)

I’m not looking forward to it. I hope I get to read that there is a book deal (and movie!) in your future. There really ought to be.

Wow, Alana! Thank you for the wonderful compliment.

The book deal is a big dream for me.

I’m another backwards reader and I definitely appreciate the effort you’ve clearly gone to that makes it easy to do again. I’m reading like a novel too, and starting at the beginning may just become my favorite get-organized inspiring reading. I’m so enjoying your progress and really appreciate your honesty. Thanks!

I’m reading like a novel, just click newer post each time. Thankyou for that feature. You’re the only blog I’ve ever read this consistently. I vacillate between enjoying having so many posts to read, and that I will never catch up.
