I get these random gigs through blogging and all of them are fun, but this one has to be the MOST fun ever!
I was selected to be part of the JCPenney Secret Santa Tag Blog Tour, and it has been such a blast.
I’ll admit it. I get slightly irritated when hubby comes home from work every day for a week with gifts from a secret Santa. I’m jealous of the intrigue, the fun . . . and the LOOT!
So, when this opportunity came about, I was all over it. I was assigned another blogger, whom I’ve never met, to buy a gift for from jcp.com! It was so fun to browse their online selection of really nice gifts and know that I was going to get to surprise another mama with something she might not buy for herself! Thankfully, she did provide some ideas, and I’m really hoping she’ll like what I picked out.
And I’m dying to see what MY secret Santa picked out for me. If she goes by my blog (like I did for mine), I’ll probably get pink organizing bins!
As part of this program, we had the opportunity to try out JCPenney’s new Santa Tags.
Again . . . so fun.
Modern technology sometimes just amazes me. Thankfully, though, it rarely leaves me speechless . . . which is a good thing with these tags.
Here’s how they work:
You pick up a sticker/tag at your local JCPenney store for each gift that you purchase there, or bring in the receipt from a gift purchase you made at jcp.com on or before November 15th. The tags have a QR code on them. (That’s those bar-code-ey squares that you see everywhere these days.) You scan that with your smartphone using one of several free QR Reader apps, and enter your phone number. In a few moments, your phone rings and you have the opportunity to record a message for your gift-recipient that they’ll hear when they scan the code after they receive their gift. So cool, right? And don’t worry. If you or the person receiving the gift doesn’t have a smartphone, it’s okay. You can use a normal phone to call the number on the tag and do the same thing by entering the numbers below the QR code.
If you’re sending a gift to someone far away, how perfect would it be to include a message in your own voice?
Or . . . do you ever feel the need to explain something just before someone opens up their gift? Like . . . remember that time when you said you’d always wanted a . . . ?
Oh wait, maybe that’s just me.
Next week, I’ll reveal what I sent, and show what I receive from MY Secret Santa!
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of jcpenney and received a jcpenney Secret Santa gift and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
