I’m in love with this beautiful PDF my publisher created!
In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, I talk about these layers and give you the COMPLETE plan for working through that second layer: clutter.
During my launch party, I talked about the layers in a live video. You can watch the recorded video here, just know that the party is over!

This is so helpful! I really like your analogy towards this because it really like taking each section of your mom piece by piece.
Thank you for sharing!

I was recently talking about the ‘declutter challenge’ I joined to help get a jump start on Spring cleaning, but not just to clean…to declutter and get rid/trash things that are unnecessary. It’s a group my friend started on Facebook to just hold each other accountable. We’ve even had to share pictures, and let me tell you, I didn’t want anyone seeing my mess, but when I realized I wasn’t alone, it made it so much easier. Anyway, a coworker, Shawn Glenn, told me about your website, podcasts, and your blog! I have been listening to your podcasts today while I work, and it has been so helpful, and just fun to listen to! I can’t wait to order your book!

So helpful! While I understood the layers I didn’t recognize that they needed different tactics to manage. Thanks!

Layer three is the hardest for me. I can keep up with the daily pick up and find decluttering to be gratifying but I really hate the deep cleaning. I have my house professionally cleaned every two weeks but that really doesn’t address the deeper cleaning that needs to be done after 10 years of living in the same house. I feel super lazy about this but you would never know it by looking at how “picked up” my house appears to be.

Dana, ever since I read your post about the swish and swipe, I’ve been doing that. Well, mostly consistently!
Now I don’t have to spend 30 minutes using a jack hammer to clean the toilet!! YAY!
Thanks!

I love this PDF!!!! I just printed it! I finally am beginning to understand how to keep my home nice most of the time. No other method of decluttering/organizing or cleaning has ever worked for me until I discovered you and your ebooks a few years ago. I am a slow learner but I just keep at it and it keeps getting better.

Oh my! Love this pdf! Can’t believe there are only 7 other comments!
I’ve been reading your blog from the beginning and can’t tell you how much of a difference it’s made in my attitude about my home. I’ve gone from super slob kid to perfectionist scrub the walls (who does that?!?) eat off the floor clean freak as an early mom back to who cares piles everywhere then diagnosed with medical stuff that makes me too tired to care except I do care to finally on the way to a comfort drop in anytime you want (after 10 am) person. Dang that’s a loooongggg sentence.
My biggest take away so far is that all that is actually not crazy abnormal. I appreciate how you have analyzed homemaking down to its core principles. This pdf nails it perfectly!
