I have such great memories of Christmas candies at my grandparents’ homes. Brightly colored, never seen in the home of anyone that wasn’t a grandma, and still there at Easter even though hoards of grandchildren and great-grandchildren had paraded past the candy dish for months.
So, when I saw a package while I was in a spendy mood anyway before Christmas, I grabbed them.
Nostalgia. The opportunity to introduce my own children to my own childhood memory.
But y’all, they’re gross.
I was surprised, since I didn’t remember them being gross, I just remembered them sitting in the candy dish.
But since we’re talking about me, they must have always been gross. Because non-gross candy doesn’t last long in a candy dish in my presence.
So I threw them away. Here’s hoping I’ll remember this waste of money next Christmas when I see them again.

I think I loved those too, as a child. And now, yeah, gross!

I love how they emphasize the “artificially flavored.” Like its a good thing right up there with the ” keep fresh canister.”

I remember the Ribbon Candy my grandparents used to get. I used to love that stuff and would be known to snarf down a box of it in one day. Now it is just too sweet and sticks to my dental work. bleh.

Oh, my! Yes, it’s gross! Never liked it!
Great reason to chuck it! I’m guessing it didn’t fly with your kids either??

I like using them for decorating gingerbread houses. The variety of colors and shapes really adds something for me. But we don’t eat them.

I remember these too, funny thing is my husband and I were talking about them right before Christmas. I told him I only liked one type out of the whole candy dish, it had a little rose in the center of it. All the others were totally gross so I would dog around until I found the ones I liked.

I think the reason we saw them in the candy dish was that, over a very short time, they had congealed into a solid mass and we couldn’t extricate just one. I also loved these, also tried to bring back the nostalgia, but got frustrated at the waste when they stuck together. Besides, pure sugar, folks.

Got tell a little story some people want this or that when parents die but the very few things I wanted I had the tact less Ness to ask for when I turned into an adult mostly because my mom was downsizing and I did want them to be donated without mention I wanted them I asked for a sewing table a coffee table that I personally think is the most beautiful coffee table I have Sean in real life I had also asked for a blue car naval glass candy dish I so didn’t get I was just thinking about the fact I didn’t get it the other day I think it broke but my thoughts now are why would I have a candy dish I mean what level of clutter to have a container designed just to have candy sit in it. I try very hard not to eat that stuff when I get it I don’t think I could keep it in a candy dish as nasty as those candies are I am a bit compulsive about cleaning my plate. I am all for making things look nice but I have what I have to use it and with food I buy it to be eaten I don’t do pointless decoration
