A while back, I wrote a review of the Click ‘N Dig Key Finder System.
I . . . love . . . my . . . key finders.
But recently, one by one . . . they became possessed.
Randomly beeping. Clicking. Never being quiet, even when hidden in a drawer or shoved under a pillow or banged impatiently against the table.
This went on for weeks.
Hubby was the first to give up on his.
I held in there.
Yes. They were crazy. But they still came through for me when I lost my keys. (Like, daily.)
(Fine. Three times daily.)
But when Hubby took it upon himself to remove the crazy, red-eyed key finder from my Suburban keys . . . things started really going down hill.
He claimed he couldn’t take the beeping and clicking and chirping anymore.
I found myself in tears every time I couldn’t find my keys!!
(Which was every time I needed my keys!)
And then I thought, “Oh yeah. The package came with extra batteries. I wonder . . . ”
So I dug through the pile that I knew contained the box with batteries, and a whole three minutes later . . . my beloved key finder was resting peacefully. Only beeping when I pushed the button.
(The button that hangs from the totally-logical key hook by the back door. The key hook where my keys never are.)
Seriously. Why do I go through so much angst when there’s a (pretty much) two second solution?
And now for your convenience (in case you’re a key-loser as well . . . ): affiliate links. You can go read the review I wrote, or you can go straight to the key finder on Amazon here.

I’m glad and crazy impressed that you still had, and could find the batteries!

Start your new life resolution: Keys go on the hook by the door.
And good for you, Nony. Glad you found the batteries, that they were still juiced, and you were able to fix the fob. 🙂

Ninety-nine percent of the time, my keys are in my purse. But something like that could come in really handy for when my daughter takes them out to get something out of the van…and can’t remember where she put them (NOT back in my purse). 🙂

The summer before my older son started 6th grade, in Vacation Bible School he made a key holder. It went up next to the phone in the kitchen. When he started being home by himself before and after school, the rule was he had to hang his key on the hook the minute he walked in the door. It worked. I have a clip on my keyring – keys are either in my pocket or clipped to my purse. I have almost never lost my keys since I started doing this. I may be Slob in other ways, but this one worked for me!

I’ve just found your blog and it’s SO good to read. I incessantly read organising blogs (sorry, I spell it with an S, I’m English!) because a) I’m looking for that miracle that will make my house tidy and b) if I’m looking at the screen, I can’t see the mess! But it’s so good to find someone who has a NORMAL house (I’m sure we’re the normal ones!) and not a perfect house that merely needs a bit of lining paper and a cute label to make it perfect! Thank you¬

You’ll love this blog Rosie! Nony makes me feel normal and encourages me to do better. She’s a blessing.

I, too, am so impressed that you could find the batteries. I doubt that I could have. Being a key-loser my self, the key finder thingy sounds like an idea worth trying.
Also, I finally caught up to the present! I’ve been reading your blog backwards for about 6 months or so. I’ve loved every minute of it and can’t wait to see what happens in your present time period AND mine! Thanks so much!!

The only thing that has ever worked for me with keys is to hang them on the inside doorknob the nanosecond I pull them out of the lock. When I don’t….It can get ugly.

When my son was around 9 he lost my only set if car keys outside while it was snowing!! We found them two days later when the snow melted, this would have saved my sanity at the time for sure!! Or I could hook one on my hubs cell, he always looses it when the battery needs charging, so you can’t even call it :/ that happened just today. maybe a stocking stuffer this year 🙂
Laurie S says
I like that they offer different sized sets 🙂

I used to lose my keys all the time and I hung up a key rack by the front door and forced myself to hang my keys on it the moment I walked through the door. Now it is habit and I always know where my keys are. My hubby refuses to use the key rack and is always looking for his keys. It so annoying to me because if he would just hang them up it would save so much trouble. The really hard part is when someone else uses my keys and doesn’t put them back!!
