Thursday is Mopping Day on my totally-made-up Weekly Cleaning Task Schedule.
But I didn’t mop yesterday. Instead I finished up a VERY big writing project that had a deadline, met with my church’s music minister about our Christmas production (because it’s the end of August so we’re already behind!), and kept up with daily tasks like unloading the dishwasher and re-loading it and wiping down counters and such.
Because neglecting Daily Tasks for Weekly Ones doesn’t work out well for me.
And then today came. And when I got home from working out (for the fifth time in five days!!!), I had a decision to make.
Do I skip Mopping Day and make it Dust and Vacuum Day?
Or do both?
Or what??
And then I saw the coffee I had dribbled across the floor, and decided it was Mopping Day.
If I wasn’t so determined to get back on track, I might have used a towel to wipe up the dribbles, or just pretended I didn’t see them.
But those dribbles helped me make my decision.
And now it’s done. I skipped Dusting and Vacuuming and instead did a ten minute pick-up. Twenty thirty minutes would have been required before I could dust and vacuum.
I’m making progress, people. And honestly, I’m counting on the guaranteed motivation to dust and vacuum next week since I’ll be expecting visitors when our church home group starts back up.
How has your week gone? Are you getting back on track?

Is that a regular ol’ mop? I have seen the Swiffer Wet Jet and it’s tempting. Since I hate doing housework, gadgets that might “inspire me to clean” are very tempting.
As for getting or being on track, I have no track. Yet.

It’s regular! I’ve tried them all and I find that it works best when I need to scrub hard because it’s been a while!

My husband LOVES the wet jet stuff. I’m old fashioned, I prefer regular mopping equipment, mostly because it’s cheaper but since my husband mops for me pretty often (dirty floors are his pet peeve) I bought the wet jet stuff. Maybe once I get a regular schedule I can buy and use what I want on our floors.

I’m in search of my track, but am keeping my head above water. Barely. Unfortunately overcoming thyroid-related fatigue and getting healthier is my highest priority right now…and today will be the 10th day in a row I’ve spent 20-45 minutes on my treadmill, done range of motion stretches, and made a point to get off my duff and move more. Fortunately moving more usually involves some sort of chore. At some point this afternoon, sweeping and mopping will be one of the ways I do that. Yes, I’ve started to count housework as a mild form of exercise. Anything that gets me moving. 🙂

I’m off track, behind in just about everything, with deadlines looming and schooling beginning.
That’s why I’ve committed September to following along with Nony! September is like my New Year – it gives me a brand new slate and a fresh start.

Hello, I just love your blog, I have been reading for a while and since my kids are both in school this year! Tear for my baby in kinder!! I decided this is the year of the clean and organized so that is what is happening and then on top of that I decided that I am going to start journaling my journey in a blog! I am hoping this will help with accountability not that I have all these followers reading but i will so that is what is important! Thank you for this super honest blog of a real woman and her life!

I bought this mop this week just because you suggested it. I was out of Swiifer spray and pads. For 10.00 I could have bought the refills or this mop. This one came with no excuses why I couldn’t mop in the future. I am very pleased. Thank you for the recommendation!

I love that mop! Before that mop, I was anti-mop. I did floors Cinderella-style.

I made a schedule for myself with daily and weekly tasks written out months ago. So far I have not made it through a scheduled week once, lol. But my excuse is I just had a baby and taking care of her is priority. I am still trying to find my SAHM groove where I can get my housework done and take care if the kids all at the same time. Some days are easier than others but I am making progress.

Because of this very post, I mopped last night. Yes, I know that shouldn’t be remarkable….but…
