Twelve Days of Decluttering

12 Days of Decluttering at

How in the world did December already happen?

The past two weeks have been crazy around here, and the next few promise to be pretty wild as well. Our church’s big Christmas production (which I wrote and am directing) starts Friday night, so blogging will likely take a backburner to life.

I wasn’t going to worry too much about that, but then I got one of these lovely, coveted orange cards in the mail last week.

Yep, the Clutter Fairy will visit my house on the 13th of December.

I never like to waste these opportunities, so my goal for the first twelve days of December is to FILL UP this box.

It is the huge-mongous box that our dishwasher came in, so it will hold a LOT of stuff.

Yesterday was December 1st, and we put up our Christmas decorations. This meant re-shuffling our everyday crdecor. There’s no better time to declutter than when you’re moving things around anyway.

I’ve been despising those sticks-in-a-jar for a while now, so they went in the box.

Then, when opening up our Christmas Tree Corner, I decided that the totally useless bookshelf needed to go as well.

It’s the bookshelf that made Hubby seriously question my sanity when I brought it home from a garage sale about a year ago. I admitted openly to him that he was right and I was wrong.

We never needed that bookshelf.

It’s just so difficult to break myself from the delusion that ONE more SHELF will solve all of our clutter problems.

It didn’t fit in the box, but it’s ready to go out the door and is somewhat hidden in my kids’ hallway until the 13th.

But in the spirit of putting something in the box for each of the first 12 days of December, I also wrapped up a few decor items which shall remain un-pictured out of respect for the well-intentioned givers who might just be reading my blog.

There’s still a lot of box-space to fill in the next 10 days, but I’m hoping my box-filling-goal will help me see some decluttering progress in the midst of the busy-ness of this coming week!

Do you have a box you could fill?
