I’ve been considering experimenting with my weekly task schedule. Even though it works well do one major task a day, I’m a little overwhelmed with other commitments right now and had wondered if I could double up some days to give myself a day off here and there. Not a day off for couch-sitting, but a day off for big-project-that-takes-multiple-hours-and-full-focus tackling.
Last Thursday, I was forced to experiment. I thought that I would be able to do all of my weekly tasks to get back on track for a coffee-get-together on Friday morning. But . . . I failed to check the calendar to see that Tuesday was full of dentist appointments for all three kids.
Oops.
So I had to double up on Thursday morning in order to get the bathrooms cleaned AND the kitchen mopped before people started ringing the doorbell on Friday.
I mopped the kitchen first, which is a much quicker job now that I’ve done it consistently enough that I actually know what I’m doing.
And then I started on the bathrooms. I generally don’t mop the bathrooms. Mostly, it’s because I only have one mop, and it grosses me out to think about using the same mop in the kitchen and bathroom.
But Thursday, since I did the kitchen floor first, I decided to be crazy and mop the bathrooms too. See, I have the fabulous Libman Wonder Mop, which can go in the WASHING MACHINE!!!
Just pop it off of the handle and wash it. So, after I did the kitchen, and then the bathroom, I washed it along with the rag I used for cleaning. I’ve always loved that mop because it cleans well. (Believe me, I’ve tried many many mops.) I’m so excited to figure out a way to motivate me to do a better job cleaning bathrooms.
For some reason, mopping makes me clean better. I would generally wipe down the floors, but that makes it so easy to ignore a few things here and there. Knowing that I’m going to mop makes me get every last piece of trash off of the floor, and sweep it really well. The bathroom looks so much better and thoroughly clean.
I’m excited to try combining these two tasks. It really did help to do them on the same day because I was already in cleaning mode. And if I can free up another day for some major decluttering projects, or . . . maybe . . . .painting my entry way . . . even better!

Ugh. I double hate mopping. I have a swiffer thing that I use a washable pad on but I don't love it. It's too hard to push around. I've taken to squirting visible dirt with cleaner and using a rag to clean with my foot. I think I'd like your mop better than that.

Ha! I thought I was the only one who "mopped"that way!

I hate mopping. I Do have a wondermop. I also have a swiffer but it's the disposable wipes. And I still hate to mop. I've considered a Shark Steam Mop…..but, honestly, I don't think it will help me.
Just not a mopper. LOL

Kimmie, I totally understand. Honestly, I had the wondermop for several years before I knew I loved it so much. Mostly because I pretty much never used it! I'm the queen of buying gadgets that I want to solve my problems!
